Dr. Kajal Sakhrani
Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience
I am currently the Director of Clinical Training at a hospital, in my private practice I see clients for individual and couples therapy, and as a Qualified Medical Evaluator, I perform Medical-Legal evaluations for workers’ compensation disputes.
I am passionate about MANY things! Two areas I have dedicated my career to are understanding relationship dynamics and destigmatizing mental health, specifically within marginalized and BIPOC communities.
Human beings are social creatures. Connection and closeness to others are basic human needs and desires. Without it, we feel pain or discomfort. Through understanding past and present relationships, my goal is to help my clients develop a healthier relationship with themselves which in turn helps them create more meaningful connections with the people around them.
In addition to helping individuals create healthy relationship dynamics, I am incredibly passionate about changing the narrative around mental health. I approach “mental health” by placing more of an emphasis on the “health” and wellness of our minds and less weight on the “illness.” Through conversation, therapy, and coaching, I work to reframe the perspective around mental health by creating a more positive dialogue around topics like feelings, emotions, therapy, illness, personality, culture, race, and social stigmas.
“I BELIEVE GROWTH IS CONSTANT AND CHANGE IS ACHIEVABLE! THROUGH OUR WORK TOGETHER I CAN HELP YOU GAIN THE CONFIDENCE, MOTIVATION, AND POWER TO CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT.“
My Experience
I have worked with individuals and couples in various settings including private practice, hospitals, substance rehabilitation programs, a maximum-security prison, high school, and university. My work with diverse populations has equipped me with the experience and knowledge to help you reach your unique goals.

CAGED MINDS
Mental health is now more talked about than ever. After the paralyzing event that quarantined us all, we had a small taste of what it means to be locked up. For some, it was a time to reconnect with themselves, but for others, it was a moment of isolated torture. We may have felt caged, but is that what it truly feels like to be a prisoner?
Today on the show, Dr Kajal Sakhrani discusses mental health in US prisons. She walks us through the process of therapy for prisoners in maximum security, sheds light on sociopathy and serial killers, and shares some riveting stories.
